Italy is located in southern Europe and is a peninsula. It has some islands like Sicily and Sardinia. The countries bordering it are Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, France, San Marino and Vatican City. It has a population of 60.59 million people. Its area is 301338 sq km.
GOVERNMENT OF ITALY
The capital of Italy is Rome. The president is Sergio Mattarella and the prime minister is Giuseppe Conte. The constitution was made on January 1, 1948. The currency of Italy is the Euro.
PLACES TO VISIT IN ITALY
Some memorizing places to visit in Italy are-
Rome - Rome is Italy's capital and is a cosmopolitan city which has art architecture and cultural work on display. Ancient ruins like the Forum and the Colosseum. Rome was founded on April 21, 753 BC.
Venice - Venice is known to be the capital of the northern part of Italy. It doesn’t have any roads, just canals. It is built over a thousand islands. The central square is Piazza San Marco, and St. Mark’s Basilica is located there.
Florence - Being the capital of the Tuscany region and in the centre of Italy, Florence is home to various numbers of art and architecture. One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto.
Milan - Milan is located in Northern Italy. It is part of Italy's Lombardy region and is the capital of fashion and design. Milan is home to the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci and the AC Milan Football Club.
Lake Como - Lake Como, in Northern Italy is known for its scenery and is against the Alps. It is shaped an upside-down Y. They meet at the town of Bellagio.
Mount Etna - Mount Etna is an active stratovolcano located in Sicily. The last eruption was on December 24, 2018. It is 3350m tall. It is estimated to be 350000-500000 years old.
Colosseum - The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine, tuff, and brick-faced concrete, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built.
Torino - Torino is a city in Northern Italy. It borders the Alps. It is home to the Juventus Football Club.
FAMOUS LUXURY CARS
Car brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Buggati and Maserati which are worldwide known, are made over here.
FAMOUS FOOD
The very popular pizzas, pasta and tiramisu all originated from Italy!
ITALIAN FOOTBALL TEAM
The Italian Football Team is known to be one of the best in the world, even though they didn't qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
LANGUAGE AND RELIGION
The main religion of Italy is Roman Catholicism. They go to church. The main languages that are spoken there are Italian and Catalan.
