Trip to Genting Highlands, Malaysia

On a school excursion, I  went to Genting Highlands from 23rd of September to 25th of September, 2 nights and 3 days. My school, Global Indian International School were taking us by coach.

DAY 1

We had to reach school at 6 am in the morning. We left from school at 7. The ride was quite smooth. We did immigration at Tuas checkpoint. As soon as you do immigration you're in Johor.

As Singapore is an island, it is separated from Malaysia. So, there
had to be a bridge connecting these both. On the bridge to enter Malaysia, there was heavy traffic. We had to wait for about 40 minutes to reach across in Malaysia. Later after doing a security baggage check in the Malaysian checkpoint, we had to board another bus.  After boarding into another bus, five minutes later, we went to a B&B which is a breakfast place and a shop. I  bought few items there. The items were very cheap there as compared to Singapore. But, I didn't buy any breakfast there.

In Genting we were going to the ' First World Hotel' located on a mountain. It is the largest hotel in world, stated by the Guinness Book of World Records. Before we talk about the hotel, let us talk about Johor. We had eaten lunch in a place called ' Bigreen  Leaf' a place I rate the restaurant 2.5/5 stars. There was not much variety.

Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm

About two hours later, I reached Genting and went to the ' Genting  Strawberry Leisure Farm'. They had rows and rows of strawberries growing. It was just amazing! They also had a shop where I bought some goodies for home.

Later, we went to the cable car station, Awana station and reached at the Sky Avenue station where the hotel is. We went to eat dinner at a place called 'Malaysian Food Street'. The format of the restaurant is very nice. There are windows and the pick up areas are like shops to make it look like a street.

After dinner, we went and walked to our hotel. It was really huge. In our rooms, there were two bad things:

The view of First World Hotel from my cable car

  • There was no wifi
  • The toilet did not have a lock
We slept at around 9:45 pm.

DAY 2

Today, we had to wake up at 6 am. Supposed to have breakfast at 7, but we only had it at 7:30. The breakfast hall was so huge, it was about three times the size of my house!

We left the hotel at 8:30 and walked to the 'Talking Garden'. There was a wonderful view of the mountains and the area below. We got to feel the clouds! They also had pitcher plants and we got to plant them. It was fun and was easy.

Panaromic view of view from Talking Garden
We had to eat lunch at the same restaurant as last time- 'Malaysian Food Street'. After this we left to go for trekking. It was the first wifi filled forest. We had to make videos about a specific animal. Our animal was the Great Hornbill. It was nice.

We also got a break from 4 to 6:30 pm to freshen up and all that stuff. After that we went for a super awesome dinner at the 'Genting Grand' hotel. It was a buffet dinner. They had 15 types of desserts! Yum! We went back to our hotel and packed our suitcases. Then at 10:20, we slept.

DAY 3
World famous Petronas Twin Towers

Today, again we woke up at 6 am. We were going to Kuala Lumpur! We had breakfast. They had vegetarian pizza! WE then took the cable car down to Awana station.

We took a bus to a chocolate factory where I got a chocolate bag worth 48 ringgit which is $14.33. We also saw the world famous, 'Petronas Twin Towers'! It was so tall!

We ate lunch as same as the first day- 'Bigreen Leaf'.

We then started heading back to Singapore. We also did immigration. Later, no more stops, we reached our school.

What a memorable trip it was! I hope I can go to Malaysia again!
