HALDIGHATI
The Battle of Haldighati took place on 18 June 1576 between Maharana Pratap and Mughal emperor Akbar's representative, Man Singh I. The Mughals were victorious but did not manage to capture Maharana Pratap as he fled away. The Mughals captured Chittorgarh.

Meanwhile, Maharana Pratap headed to Kumbalgarh near modern-day Udaipur. He made his base over there.

In this battle, Pratap's horse, Chetak died after climbing up on Man Singh's elephant where Chetak's hind leg was injured. Chetak died after running away with Maharana Pratap and crossing a stream taking Pratap to safety.

As you can see, on the top left there is a horse lying down. That is Chetak, dead. You can see the path hr took to cross the stream and lead Maharana Pratap to safety.

This war was a very bloody war.

The picture to your left was taken in the Maharana Pratap museum. Go to the 'Trip to India' blog for more.

  1. I have always been fascinated by the Battle of Haldighati. Maharana Pratap's forces fought with courage despite a numeric disadvantage against the Mughals. Chetak's exploits during this battle made him a legend. BTW- Your mom and I visited HG with Thatha and Ammama in 1984.

Trip to Genting Highlands, Malaysia

On a school excursion, I  went to Genting Highlands from 23rd of September to 25th of September, 2 nights and 3 days. My school, Global Indian International School were taking us by coach. DAY 1 We had to reach school at 6 am in the morning. We left from school at 7. The ride was quite smooth. We did immigration at Tuas checkpoint. As soon as you do immigration you're in Johor. As Singapore is an island, it is separated from Malaysia. So, there  had to be a bridge connecting these both. On the bridge to enter Malaysia, there was heavy traffic. We had to wait for about 40 minutes to reach across in Malaysia. Later after doing a security baggage check in the Malaysian checkpoint, we had to board another bus.  After boarding into another bus, five minutes later, we went to a B&B which is a breakfast place and a shop. I  bought few items there. The items were very cheap there as compared to Singapore. But, I didn't buy any breakfast there. In Genting we we...
