Sher Mandal was named for Sher Shah. He tried to finish what was ordered by Babur but unfortunately, Babur died. So, the construction was stopped until Humayun.
Sher Mandal is a octagonal tower with two floors. This building was intended to be built higher. Babur ordered the construction of this building to be a observatory and library for Humayun. This is one of the first observatories in Delhi.
On the top of the tower is a white marble octagonal chhatri (dome pavilion). Inside there are also remnants of stone shelving where the emperor may have put his books.
Most importantly, this was also the place where Emperor Humayun died (from the second floor).
Entry inside the library is prohibited.
